The main reason we have put this site together is for the enjoyment factor
of keeping these wonderful birds. We first saw them four years ago at Melton Mowbray
rare breeds sales, and fell in love with the sheer size and the colour of Orpingtons, we didn't know the colour, or the
breed untill we looked in the sales catalogue. Little did we know that finding out the name and breed of this fabulous bird
it would send us on the fantastic rollercoaster of knoweledge and friendships that we have encountered! Joining the orpington breed club was our first step, from them we found out a comprehensive list of breeders
who had the Jubilee. We initially made quite a few mistakes, but the whole idea is to learn as you go, and hopefully never
make the same mistake twice! Getting some decent breeding stock has taken us three long years, and alot of hard work and wasn't
cheap! But you only ever get what you pay for in this life, and how true that saying is in the poultry world, if you pay peanuts,
you get monkey's! If something sounds too good to be true, it inevetably is! My husband, Nigel and my self, have
been trying relentlessly now for four years to improve these colours, and we think we have done to a degree, and now having
bought some Spangleds too, we have even more of a challenge! But all this is done with pride, and dedication to the Orpington
as a whole, standard, non-standard, they all need our support to breed them true, keep to type, and show them. We have both
kept chickens most of our lives, but non so seriously as our beloved Orpingtons. The breed is so docile, and laid back, make
fantastic pets, yes, they eat alot, but not as much as my kids, and they don't answer back!! We hope you join us
in keeping and breeding, but most importantly, showing this wonderful colour of Orpington, we are happy to meet you for a
coffee at shows if you have any questions about the breed, please feel free to come up and say hello! We do have appointments
occasionally by prior arrangment, and we like to keep this down to the months of January-April ONLY please. This is also not
ment to offend, but please, no children, we've had quite enough of nasty experiences with peoples children who have been
here and actually killed birds, and who just couldn't behave, so now we have a rule of absolutely NO CHILDREN. Hope you have enjoyed what little i have already shown you, I hope to be posting some better pictures
soon, especially of our German Jubilee's, and i would also like to take this oppertunity to thank everyone who have given
us words of praise and encouragement, since we put this website together, the response has been quite remarkable! All of this
has been so worth the knock backs from such biggotted members of the orp club who are so against the coloured Orps for some
reason known only to themselves, and are so intent in not allowing us to have the freedom of choice, in the colour of orps
we choose to breed and show, they really need to have read what you folks have written on my guestbook, or heard some of the
wonderful people who have phoned me to congratulate us on having such gorgeous birds! Perhaps then, they would realise, the
days of Henry Ford, and his 'Any colour as long as it's black' is not ment for this century!! COME ON
YOU JUBES!!!!! Thanks again folks, please keep up all your support coming! XX Jane & Nigel Allman XX
